To completely forget a Wi-Fi network on Mac, follow these steps:

- In the dropdown menu, click on “Network Preferences…”.
- In the Network Preferences window that appears, click on “Advanced…”.
- In the Advanced window, select the Wi-Fi network you want to forget from the network list.
- Click on the minus sign (-) just below the network list.
- Click on “Ok”. This will close the Advanced window.
- Click on “Apply” in the Network Preferences window to finish.
The network has now been forgotten.
If for some reason the Wi-Fi icon is not showing up in your top menu bar, there is an alternative way to forget a network on Macbook.
- Click on the Apple Icon in the menu bar.
- Click on “System Preferences”.
- Click on “Network”. This will prompt the Network Preferences window.
- Now follow step 3 and onwards from the steps above.
How to forget a Wi-Fi network on a Mac if grayed out
When the Wi-Fi networks on your Advanced Network Preferences window are grayed out, it means that a security lock is prohibiting you from changing your Wi-Fi settings. To lift the security lock, simply go back to your Network Preferences window and look for the security lock icon in the bottom left corner. Click on it and it will prompt a window asking you for an administrator’s name and password. Normally, these are the same login credentials you use to log into your computer. Fill in your credentials and press “Unlock”. If these credentials don’t work, you likely need the credentials of another administrator. If you’re having this problem with a computer issued by your employer, contact them and ask for the login credentials. At most companies, a system administrator or IT manager will be able to help you out.
